The event started with the sumptuous dinner which was followed by a privilege speech rendered by the newly-elected president Dr. Lucivilla Marcos. Dr. Marcos expressed her gratitude to the sponsors of the luncheon specifically some administrators and faculty members. She assured everyone of her support to ensure the welfare of the faculty by encouraging greater cooperation among the members. With the strong communitarian spirit that abounds within the institution, she is confident that working together harmoniously can be easily maintained. She intends to push plans on career development for faculty members which will redound to benefit the students. Hoping the her leadership will promote greater commitment, she sent a word of encouragement. Thus, said she “We serve our God through our work”.

In his response, Fr. Dionisio C. Cachero, OAR rekindled the productive effort he had with the SSC-R Faculty Association years back. He mentioned that this year would be critical for San Sebastian College because of PAASCU Accreditation. Aiming to elevate the school’s accreditation to the next level (level 3), he called for full cooperation of all the faculty on the constant preparation for the PAASCU visit on August of this year. Reaching an autonomous level will enable the school become one of the high standard educational institutions of the country. He stressed priorities on the three important areas of academic service which are faculty, instruction, and facilities. Making sure that the vision of the school remains not only on paper but properly internalized and demonstrated, he offered everyone an assurance that efforts will be made to realize immediate and long-term goals. Anticipating the needed stronger commitment among the faculty in this critical time, he concluded his address by saying, “ … let’s work together, do your job and I’ll do mine.”
