9th COMMUNITY SPORTSFEST:



”Celebrating Life Through Sports in the Spirit of Friendship”

Eight basketball and four volleyball teams paraded during the Opening Ceremony of the 9th Community Sportsfest held Saturday morning (November 11) at the SSC-R Manila Gym.

Wowing the crowds were basketball team entries representing College of Arts and Sciences (CAS), College of Accountancy, Business Administration, and Computer Studies (CABACS), Law, Athletics, Worldwide Maintenance Services (WMS), READS, NTP, and the Recoletos Fathers (SACERDOS).

Entries competing for volleyball included the following teams: Grade School Faculty, High School Faculty, College Faculty and the NTP.

In his opening remarks, Fr. Joel S. Naranja welcomed the activity as an appropriate venue to strengthen bonding through friendship in sports. He stressed that friendship, as an institutional values being promoted would bring in camaraderie and closeness in the community.

Fr. Jorge D. Peligro centered his inspirational talk on the promotion of sound mind and sound body, being the goal of the activity enabling everybody to be in good shape and in good health thereby producing a healthy family life. He espoused that through sports the body is conditioned to do hard work which will then result to a productive life.

NTP Slashes Down College Faculty in 2

“Terminating a series of deadlock with the last 2 seconds, the pink fathers in possession, Fr. Jorge in control, passes to Guillaran, takes the spot, fires, misses. Fr. Garces catches and aims from under. And just in time for the buzzer, ball gets in sending the fathers to a fence-high joy for that first victory.”

The score was 106-104. Heading the best scorers for SACERDOS were Guillaran 33, Fr. Peligro 28, and Fr. Garces 13. Meanwhile, highest pointer went to Athletics with Mercado 39. Other top scorers were Valenzona 28 and Arboleda 14.

In an earlier match, NTP volleybelles punished the College Faculty with two straight sets 25-17 and 25-21 to grab the first win in volleyball.

Other winners in basketball were the following:

CABACS 83 vs. CAS 74
LAW 70 vs. NTP 56
