DAY CAMP 2009

(A.C. Danan/8.01.09)

About 800 college freshmen and transferees were baptized with Sebastinian charisms last Friday (July 31, 2009) as they attended the traditional welcome event called Day Camp 2009.

Instituted to spearhead bonding and generate an atmosphere of oneness in spirit and values, the event convened together college faculty, student assistants, lay and religious administrators and other members of the Sebastinian community.

The program started with a registration at 9 am. This was followed by the Para-liturgical activity and a mass which was officiated by the new SSC-R president, Fr. Anthony A. Morillo, OAR with the rest of the chapter Fathers as co-celebrants.

Ushering the participants to moments of excitements was a production number displaying the talents of student organizations such as the Recoletos Dance Troupe, Pep Squad, Sebastinian Theaters Arts Guild, and the Sebastinian Arts Society.

This year’s theme was lifted from 6 Cycle Mind’s hit “Magsasaya”. Delivering the message “MAGSAYA SEBASTINO” (MAGkaisa SA tagumpay. YAn ang SEBASTINO!”), the program highlighted success stories of the winning Sebastinians in their varied quest for victory. Presented through video clips and live testimony, alumni in the persons of Judy Lardizabal (2008 Bar Topnotcher), JC Tiuseco (first Pinoy Sole Survivor) and a roster of faculty shared their inspirational messages to uplift the pride and confidence of the newly-baptized Sebastinians.

Enlivening the program were workshops, entertainment and fun as participants proceeded to the quadrangle for the “getting-to-know-you” dynamics.

Prior to the closing and dinner, some participants gladly expressed their messages as they step up on stage. Here are some of their interesting comments:
