Games on Wednesday
(Ynares Sports Arena)
2 p.m. - Mapua vs San Beda
4 p.m. - FEU vs UE

NCAA champion San Sebastian survived the challenge of University of San Carlos to score a 76-68 overtime win Monday to enter the Elite Eight of the
2009 Philippine Collegiate Champions League at the Ormoc City Superdome.

The Stags leaned on NCAA Finals Most Valuable Player Jimbo Aquino and Calvin Abueva in the extra session to douse cold water on the spirited bid of the Warriors.

Aquino finished with 15 points while Abueva added 13, including two baskets that sealed the Recto-based dribblers' victory.

Sam Hermosa topscored for USC with 23 points in a losing cause as the squad of coach Mike Reyes became the last Cebu-based team to be eliminated after University of Cebu and University of the Visayas bowed to their respective rivals last Saturday.

In the other game, University of Santo Tomas spoiled the coaching debut of Vergel Meneses as the Growling Tigers the Jose Rizal University Heavy Bombers, 64-62.

Khazim Mirza, a member of the ASEAN Basketball League's Philippine Patriots, dropped 23 points while UAAP Most Valuable Player Dylan Ababou added 16 points.

Big man Mark Lopez and Marvin Hayes powered the Heavy Bombers with 14 and 12 points, apiece, as they minus key players John Wilson and James Sena.

Wilson, the NCAA Most Valuable Player, did not join the team after being reported to have already left the team following his intention to forego his remaining years with the team, while Sena is eyeing a stint in the PBA.

Meanwhile, four teams aim to reach the tournament's Final Four this Wednesday at the Ynares Sports Arena in Pasig City.

NCAA runner-up San Beda takes on Mapua in the first game at 2 p.m. followed by the 4 o'clock clash between Far Eastern University and University of the East.
