INTRODUCTION TO LAW & LEGAL HISTORY

Pre-requisite: MG 111, MG 121


An introduction to the concepts, foundation and characteristics of laws; and the history and the development of the legal profession


LABOR MANAGEMENT & LABOR LAWS
3 Units
Pre-requisite: MG 111, LM 211, MG 121


This three-unit course deals with the study of the sensual aspects of relationship between labor and management which start from the hiring of the employees up to termination of his employment with focus on subjects like hours of work, wages and salaries tenure or other terms or conditions of employment. This subject also covers unfair labor practices, including the laws relating to strikes, pickets, lock-outs and jurisdiction of the NLRC.


OBLIGATIONS AND CONTRACTS
3 UNITS
Pre- requisite : Twelve (12) units of English, LM 211


This course deals with a study of legal obligations, rights and duties of the parties, modes of extinguishment of legal obligations and contracts. The course also includes the study of a natural obligations, quasi-contracts, quasi-delicts and damages.


LAW OFFICE MANAGEMENT
3 Units
Pre-requisite: MG 111, MG 121, LM 211


A study of different phases of law offices and administration management Particular emphasis will be given to technology its importance to law management office and a need for a well-planned office toward job satisfaction.


LAW ON BUSINESS ORGANIZATION
3 UNITS
Pre-Requisites: BL 1


This course is extended to give the students a broad knowledge of legal provisions governing business association. It includes laws on partnership, and corporation, and a study of the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC)


SALES, AGENCY AND BAILMENTS
3 UNITS
Pre-Requisites: LM 211


This course deals with the study of the laws governing contracts of special nature, particularly the new civil code provisions governing sales, agency, and bailment.


LAW ON FINANCIAL INSTITUTION
3 Units
Pre-Requisites: M 211; MG 111; MG 121; BF 121


The course deals with the Omnibus Investment Code, the powers and function of the board of investments, rules and regulations governing banks and non-banks financial intermediaries. Likewise, the course includes circular of the Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas, as well as relevant tax regulation.


Negotiable Instruments

Pre-requisites : LM 211


This course deals with the study of negotiable instrument, their nature and kinds, rights of holders, warrants of parties and discharge of the instrument.


LEGAL ETHICS
3 Units
Pre- Requisites: LM 211, MG 111, MG 121


This course focuses on the canons of legal ethics involving the duties and responsibilities of the lawyer with the respect to the client, the court, the bar, and the public.


STRATEGIC MANAGEMENT & PLANNING
3 Units
Pre-Requisites: MG 111, MG 121, MK 111, BF 111, AC
211, AC 221, AC 311, AC 321, MG 315


This course is designed to help the student select strategy and policy to achieve the organization’s objectives and goals. It includes processes leading to the definition of organization’s objectives, formulation of Strategies, and development of plans, actions, and policies to achieve these strategic objectives. It tackles the long opportunities in the larger environment where it operates.


LEGAL MANAGEMENT PRACTICUM
3 Units
Pre-Requisites: Must Finished 70% of LM Major Subjects


This course is designed as a training laboratory outside classroom work wherein the student will undergo on the job training in the law office. The student is expected to gain insight of law office operations and management, which he/she can now blend with theories and concept learned in previous course.


INCOME TAXATION
3 units
Pre-requisite: AC 211, AC 221


This course provides students the knowledge on the nature, scope and limitations of taxation, how income tax is computed, how income tax return is filled-up and filed. Students are also expected to become knowledgeable on the different income
items (taxable and nontaxable)


TRANSFER AND BUSINESS TAXES
3 units
Pre-requisite: TX 111


This course covers discussion on transfer taxes, gratuitous transfer of property (estate tax and donor’s tax), VAT, percentage taxes, excise taxes, documentary stamp taxes, and community tax. It also includes remedies of the state for collections of taxes and the remedies of the taxpayers on taxes being assessed and/ or erroneously paid.
